Alyssa was born in a working-class neighbourhood in staten island, to Italian parents Tom and Lin Milano. One day at the age of 7, her babysitter dragged her to the open auditions for the musical Annie, however this turned out to be a big turning point at Alyssas life when the director picked her to be one of the orphans, instead of her babysitter. Alyssa and her mother soon joined the tour for the musical on July, however after about 18 months Alyssa left the theatere and started working on TV commercials and productions. After a while longer Alyssa perticipated in more theatere productions, including 'Jayne Eyre' and 'Tender Offer'. Her first step-out to the film making world was in a movie called 'Old Enough'. Then, she decided she would like to try and play on television, as she never done that before. She auditioned for some TV pilots and soon after got the part of Samantha Micelli in the program 'Whos the boss?' without even reading any of the scripts. In order to get the gig, her family had to move 3,000 miles away to Hollywood. Her dad quit his job and moved there with Alyssa first, followed by her mother and brother a few months later.

Alyssa appeared in several movies during her work on Whos the Boss, inculding Dance 'till dawn and Crash course.

In the year of 1989 Alyssa launched her first cd titled 'Alyssa', followed by four other cds in 3 years.

After the show, Alyssa was desprate to break out from her image as Samantha and decided to pose nude for 'Bikini Magazine' and several other photos around Europe. She also played in 4 movies featuring nudity, and finaly she broke out of her role as Samantha in her role on Melrose Place when the character she played there was so much more different than the one of Samantha.

When Aaron Spelling had a role to fill in the show 'Charmed', Alyssa Milano agreed to take it and became Phoebe Halliwell for the past 7 (almost 8) years.

Between her role as Phoebe, she also took time to make an appearence in other shows.

In 1993, Alyssa got engaged to Scott Wolf, however later on they broke it off. 7 years later she married the singer Cinjun August Tate, but they seperated later that year.

Alyssa has a total of 5 tattos: sacred heart on her rear, fairy kneeling on her hips, rosary beads on her back, angel on her left ankle and flowers on her right ankle.
